Chrysanthemum
Product Information
Chrysanthemum is used for its effects on the eyes. Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches that the herb corrects imbalances in liver and kidney function that cause blurred vision, dizziness, dry red eyes, excessive tearing, or spots in front of the eyes. Chrysanthemum also treats headaches accompanying infection, carbuncles, furuncles, and vertigo. Wild chrysanthemum is thought to be more useful than the cultivated variety for treatment of sores abscesses, especially those of the head and back. Chrysanthemum also contains compounds that fight staph infections of the skin.
Chrysanthemum belongs to the same family as Chamomile. They carry similar properties such as calming and fighting cold and flu.
Chrysanthemum can be used on its own. Take 25g of Chrysanthemum and rinse thoroughly. Boil them in 1L of water for about 15 minutes. Sieve and discard the chrysanthemum. Add rock sugar or honey to taste. This should yield four mugs. You can also chill it if you cannot finish it in one day.
This is a very comforting and nourishing drink especially when you feel a bit tired and under the weather.
My mum used to make this tea regularly for us a remedy to combat our hectic city lifestyle.
